International Conference on Sustainable Growth in Vietnam & Beyond 2023

On December 15th, 2023, School of Economics (CSE), Can Tho University (CTU) in collaboration with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Malaysia organized an international conference with the topic "Sustainable growth in Vietnam & Beyond". There were more than 100 delegates attended the conference including experts, scientists, lecturers, master's students, and PhD students from domestic and international universities and research institutes, and representatives of several international organizations, board of rectors and many departments in CTU, especially professors, scientists and students from Malaysia and Indonesia.
Overview of the international conference at the School of Economics CSE, Can Tho University
The conference took place with a plenary session, in which two keynote speaches were presented, namely (1) “The firm's growth option value of R&D investment in unstable periods: the moderating role of organizational forms” by Dr. Nguyen Thi Bao Chau, CSE, and (2) “Exploring the Hidden World of Insect-Based Food Products: The Exciting Journey towards Sustainable Protein Sources for Pet Food” presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phuah Kit Teng, TAR UMT University (Malaysia).
Right after the plenary session, there were 4 parallel sessions with topics focused on (1) Development economics, (2) Agricultural economics and development, (3) Finance, and (4) Business administration. In these 4 parallel sessions, 17 papers were selected and presented. These contents center around diverse topics of growth and development in the field of agricultural economics, poverty, inequality, employment, income, finance, and human resource development. There are also topics on investment, trade and globalization, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, as well as on business development and employment insurance.

The conference created a vibrant forum for scientists, managers, graduate students, and Ph.D students to discuss challenges and opportunities in the context of economic instability, as well as exchange and propose solutions to promote sustainable sectoral and local economic development.

The conference drew on experiences and lessons of many countries in sustainable economic development through clearly analyzing the current situation and proposing solutions to promote sustainable development to achieve important goals to achieve sustainable economic development, stability, and economic growth of the Mekong River Delta in particular and Vietnam in general. In addition, during the discussion sessions, the Conference also created many opportunities for delegates to exchange about achievements in scientific research, promote cooperation between scientists and businesses, meet the demands and national goals of sustainable economic development in the Mekong River Delta and Vietnam. In addition, this is also an opportunity to create opportunities for exchanges and connections in scientific research between Can Tho University and domestic and international universities and scientific research facilities.
In general, the conference was highly appreciated by the participants for the presenters, the quality of the presented papers, and conference well-preparation. In addition, the conference attracted a large number of scientists, lecturers, students and graduate students and the attention of departments and organizations, building an academic sharing environment with universities and research institutes in Vietnam and international partners. The conference has received more than 40 good papers and will be published as the international proceedings.
