FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS (FAE)
TIMELINE
The Faculty of Agricultural Economics (FAE) affiliated to the School of Economics (CSE) was established very early in 1966 as soon as the Institute of Can Tho University was set up. The development process of the Faculty is as follows:
- 1966: Faculty was established under the name of Department of Agricultural Economics of Can Tho College of Agriculture.
- 1977: The Department of Agricultural Economics was developed into the Department of Agricultural Economics under Faculty of Agriculture, Can Tho University.
- 1979: The Department of Agricultural Economics became the Faculty of Economics.
- 1995: The Faculty of Economics was renamed the School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA), and the Department of Agricultural Economics was developed into the Department of General Economics.
- 2004: The Department of Agricultural Economics was re-established after being separated from the Department of General Economics.
- 2007: The department was renamed into Department of Agricultural Economics and Natural Resources and Environment Economics.
- In 2015: The Department was separated into the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Economics.
- In 2022: The Department of Agricultural Economics becomes the Faculty of Agricultural Economics (FAE) under the CSE.
TRAINING
Currently, the Faculty is offerring training programs majoring in Agricultural Economics at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.
MISSION
The Faculty strives to achieve the leading position nationally and regionally in training, research, and leadership development for learners and practical workers in the field of Agricultural Economics, meeting Vietnamese and international standards.

Providing high-quality human resources to contribute to the development of the whole country.

1. BACHELOR IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS (Major code: 7620115)
GENERAL INFORMATION
The training program meets the international accreditation standard of AUN-QA.
- Training period: 4 years; Total course credits: 141.
- Scientific title: Bachelor.
- Name of major on Bachelor Degree and transcript: Agricultural Economics.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
The undergraduate program in Agricultural Economics is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge for doing economic research and business activities of goods and services, especially agricultural products. Students are also equipped with economic analysis skills to solve problems arising in research and business activities in order to exploit and use resources in agriculture effectively, contributing to the development of the economy, especially of agricultural and rural economic development.
WORKING POSITION OF STUDENTS AFTER GRADUATION
- Staff/Managers/Researchers: at governmental agencies and departments at all levels; working in organizations, socio-economic programs/projects in agricultural and rural areas;
- Researchers and lecturers: research and teach at colleges, universities, and research institutions; can undertake work such as participating in research and teaching activities related to quantitative analysis, economics and applied economics in agriculture;
- Employees/Managers in enterprises and organizations producing and trading agricultural products;
- Consultant in projects on agriculture and rural development and poverty alleviation.
- Self-organizing agricultural production and business activities.
ABILITY TO LEARN AND IMPROVE KNOWLEDGE AFTER GRADUATION
- Forming habits and the ability to self-study, lifelong learning, capable of updating knowledge to serve work, study and research.
