2023 SUMMER INTERNSHIP

FOR STUDENTS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

AT THE SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS (CSE)

The curriculum of bachelor degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management provides students various practice-based contents as an important part of studies through the internship program each summer. This is a unique opportunity for student to apply knowledge and skills learned in a practical situation. During June of 2022, Tourism and Hospitality Management students were required to complete the following tourism work experience:

14-day internship at hotels and resorts in Cantho city aimed to train students to work in a luxury tourism environment and eco-friendly accommodation. These hotels and resorts provide students with trainings in operation departments such as front office, food & beverage, kitchen, housekeeping, entertainment services, etc.

Especially, groups of 5-7 students were required to do a project-based learning. In this project, they had to analyze travellers’ need and evaluate attractions, amenities, accessibility, destination image, and the value of cost of a specific tourism destination in the Mekong River Delta. Then, they started to design a one-day tour program and work on its promotional materials such as brochure, flyer, etc. This provided students with a range of ideas and information they could use to attract potential customers. Finally, a “mini tourism trade show” was organized. Each student group brought their one-day tour program, introduced and “sold” to all audiences including students, instructors, and travel experts.
