SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS (CSE) CONTINUES TO EXPAND AND DEVELOP
SUSTAINABLE INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP
Maintaining and expanding cooperation with international universities and research institutions have always been a top priority of the School of Economics (CSE) at Can Tho University. The activities in the past have brought about many positive results in strengthening deep and strong relationships betweeb CSE and respective partners.
Specifically, on the afternoon of November 21st, 2022, the CSE welcomed Prof. Jan Helder - Senior Economist, Market Systems & Value Chain Development Expert, Wageningen Center for Development Innovation at Wageningen University, Netherlands. On the side of SoE, A/Prof. Dr. Le Khuong Ninh – Rector, A/Prof. Dr. Phan Anh Tu – Vice Rector and Ms. Duong Que Nhu - Lecturer of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management attended the meeting. At the meeting, A/Prof Ninh had an update on the development and future orientation of the School of Economics. A/Prof Tu has also updated relevant academic and research activities of the SoE.
The meeting then give a platform to discuss in depth the possibility of carrying out and expanding activities in the near future on seeking funds for research, visiting lectures, presenting seminars, and scientific research cooperation.

Also regarding international cooperation activities, on November 14th, 2022, the CSE also welcomed Mr. Johannes – Program Director of Business Finance, Vietnamese German University (VGU) visited. Representatives of the CSE, Can Tho University included A/Prof. Dr. Phan Anh Tu – Vice Rector of the School, A/Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Khoi – Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dr. Khuu Thi Phuong Dong, and Dr. Nguyen Van Thep – Lecturer of the Faculty of Finance and Banking. The meeting opened with an exchange of opportunities for cooperation in training programs and student exchange between the two universities. The opportunity for cooperation in research and teaching is also one of the topics discussed in addition to proposing and organizing seminars and other areas based on the strengths of the two sides.

The meeting is extremely important in promoting and expanding the cooperation network between the School of Economics and domestic and foreign universities and institutions. These activities are the premise for promising professional and practical development activities of the CSE in the near future.
Regarding academic exchanges, within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the CSE, Can Tho University, and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Malaysia (TARC), on November 17th, 2022, the CSE cooperated with TARC to organize a free online lecture series (Webinar). The series of Webinars will include 11 topics, with the first one being organized and presented by Dr. Khoong Tai Wai on the topic of Marketing for financial services.

This first Webinar was held via an online platform with the participation of presenters, lecturers of the School of Economics, researchers, graduate students, and students interested in academia. Dr. Khoong Tai Wai talked about a very practical and interesting financial topic. The presenter has deeply analyzed the concepts and related applications of Marketing activities in financial services. Besides, Dr. Khoong Tai Wai also provided several interesting examples related to the topic in Malaysia and internationally in reality.
Through the Webinar, the presenter and the participants analyzed and exchanged on the online platform to jointly analyze and comment on the implications of the content and application of the lecture. Although the lectures are organized via Zoom, the discussions and exchanges are as lively and effectively as the face-to-face lectures. The success of this Webinar will create momentum for the next sharing sessions of the lecturer – a model that needs to be expanded in the near future.
