The Second International Conference in Business, Economics & Finance 2020 (2ICBEF-CTU2020)

On December 18th, 2020 the School of Economics (SoE) at Can Tho University (CTU) organized “The Second International Conference in Business, Economics & Finance”. This is an annual international conference held by the School.
Four international delegates were attending this international conference, i.e., Professor Tsunoda Manabu – Chief Advisor of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) – CTU Project, and three other international scholars, i.e., Professor Nuttanan Wichitaksorn – Auckland University of Technology (AUT) of New Zealand, Professor Scott Hipsher – Webster University (U.S.A), and Professor Henry Loupias – Pasundan University from Indonesia. Facing the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the online presence of the international scholars is an effective pandemic prevention strategy and has also conformed to the rule of social distancing.

On Can Tho University side, the conference was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan – Rector of Can Tho Univerisity and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khuong Ninh – Dean of SoE, and other participants, including heads and lecturers of SoE departments and experts, scientists from other universities, institutes, Ph.D. students, post-graduate students, and representatives of some local enterprises.

Attending and speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan emphasized that the SoE is one of the most important training units of CTU and has conducted many practical and important research related to macro and micro-policies in Vietnam and abroad. This 2nd international conference is an excellent opportunity for experts and scientists to have a full assessment of the current socio-economic situation, as well as to exchange and share research experiences, contribute to promoting domestic and international economic development.
Delivering the welcome speech and moderating the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khuong Ninh – Dean of SoE – warmly welcomed the delegates, especially professors who attended and delivered online presentations. Assoc. Prof. Ninh emphasized the important roles of this conference in updating new research results on Economics, Business, and Finance and confirmed that this conference will contribute to enhancing the image and promoting the completion of the CTU’s goals and mission on research, training, and knowledge transfers. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Ninh also affirmed that international conferences will be held annually at the School with a dear desire to become a destination for international economic and business knowledge and a popular forum for researchers, lecturers, and other domestic and international policymakers. This activity also aims to improve the quality of current research-oriented graduate and postgraduate training at the School by providing more opportunities to improve their research expertise. Besides, this is also a great opportunity to create exchanges and connections regarding scientific research between CTU and other domestic and international universities as well as scientific research institutions.

Among many research papers submitted to the Conference, there were 24 papers presented at four discussion sessions with topics related to behavioral economics, labor economics, business, international business, environmental economics, energy economics, risk, climate change, and tourism.
The Conference was highly appreciated by scholars and participants. The online presentations were also greatly complimented by the participants, especially the careful design of the presentations by the presenters. The proceedings of the Conference will come out soon in March 2021.
