Star Awards 2020 - Where The Talents Shine
My name is Pham Lam An Nghiep, and I am a senior International Business student at the College of Economics, Can Tho University. Along with my two other teammates, Huynh Ngoc Thanh Tam (International Business student) and Nguyen Vuong Minh Thu (English Language student), we have won over 50,000 students from all over the country and represent Can Tho University to be one of the six teams competing in the national final round of Star Awards 2020 in Da Nang. Being the contest's runner-up, I am glad to share what I have learned during the precious time we spent in the contest.
First of all, Star Awards is a contest with the objectives to create an English playground for university students across the country and increase their awareness about the importance of a foreign language in studying and future careers. Star Awards 2020, hosted by Da Nang University, has been organized successfully under the theme “Technovation.” In the national final round, we have to go through the first two rounds with many questions revolving around the theme of the contest, but we also need to conduct a presentation on a startup idea featuring modern technology in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
By participating in Star Awards 2020, I have had a wonderful opportunity to broaden my knowledge on the theme of technology, innovation and startup. In addition, I can enhance my soft skills, especially presentation and debating skills, which allows me to prepare myself better for the future working environment after I graduate. One of the most incredible things about joining this contest is that I have gained many new friends, who are extremely friendly and talented. Every one of them has left an everlasting impression on me, and I have learned a lot from them as well.
Our slogan in the final round was “Let Our Efforts Explode” because the three of us believe that the price of success is hard work and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Our consistent efforts have brought us to the final round, and it is also our consistent efforts brought us home with pride and satisfaction. Last but not least, I want to thank our professors, members of the Youth Union, our beloved friends and family who have supported and cheered for us every single moment. At the end of the day, this victory is for all of us.
