FACULTY OF FINANCE AND BANKING
1. Introduction
The Faculty of Finance and Banking was established under the Resolution No. 74/NQ-HDT of Can Tho University on September 29th, 2022. The Faculty of Finance and Banking aims to train high-quality, competitive and influential labor force in the field of finance and banking in Vietnam and the Asia Pacific region. Meanwhile, scientific research and transfer activities in the field of finance and banking are also determined toward the direction of applied research that fits to practical requirements of businesses at the national and regional scale. Graduates of the Finance and Banking programmes acquire qualified abilities that fit employers’ requirements as well as seizes opportunities for career advancement in the field of banking, finance, insurance, and various job positions in domestic and foreign labor markets.
2. Academic staff
The Faculty of Finance and Banking’s teaching staff consists of lecturers who obtained higher degrees from the world ranking universities, qualified teaching skills, and profound scientific reputation. Currently, the Faculty includes 5 Associate Professors, 7 PhDs, and 12 Masters.

3. Training
The Faculty of Finance and Banking offers all tertiary levels ranging from bachelor to doctoral degrees. The curricula in finance and banking are designed following the CDIO approach that allows these programs’ learning outcomes relatively compatible with that of other universities in Vietnam and overseas. The program titles and code numbers include:
- Bachelor program in Finance and Banking, code number 7340201;
- High-Quality Bachelor program in Finance and Banking, code number 7340201C;
- Master program in Finance and Banking with either research orientation and applied orientation, code number 8340201;
- Doctoral program in Finance and Banking, code number 9340201.
4. Scientific research and transfer activities
The Faculty of Finance and Banking has been carrying out numerous scientific research and transfer activities in the field of finance and banking. The results from research projects have been published in highly ranked journals. In addition, various research results have also been transferred to businesses and authorities, which significantly contributes to local economic development. In particular, doctoral students and postgraduate students have opportunities to participate in research projects supervised by experienced lecturers. Several relevant research topics include:
- Capital structure; enterprise evaluation; financing policy; company governance; and firms’ performance;
- Investors' behavior in the stock market; interaction between financial market and commodity market;
- Financial development and economic growth; national financial system; value chain finance;
- Agricultural insurance and rural credit market; interaction between formal and informal credit markets; micro credit and income;
- Credit risk; ability to meet capital adequacy requirements under the Basel II; policy on renovation of the commercial banking system; model of financial capacity assessment of commercial banks;
- Financial technology, digital finance, and digital banking;
- Tax policy, personal savings and consumption;
- Consulting on corporate finance, investment decisions, personal finance, tax;
- Short-term training on commercial banking, securities investment, cash flow management, financial management of small and medium enterprises, tax declaration.

5. Infrastructure
Facilities of the Faculty of Finance and Banking have constantly been upgraded to meet learners’ standard and expectation. In particular, the Core-banking lab is equipped to allow lecturers to simulate banking operations for various courses in the program. Meanwhile, seminar and learning rooms as well as computer labs are also available for post-graduate students and doctoral students up on request.
