VISITING CAT LAI NEW PORT:

INTERNSHIP FOR STUDENTS IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS –

THE SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS (CSE)

In March 2023, students of the Faculty of International Business – The School of Economics (CSE) University had opportunity to learn at Tan Cang Cat Lai for two days.

Saigon Newport Corporation was established on the premise that Saigon Military Port afiliated to under the Navy Command since 1989. Over 30 years of development, the enterprise has led the country in the field of ports, logistics services, and marine economic sectors.

During the visit, the students had opportunity to observe the  process of goods management, processing and receiving orders, and working with related subjects in import and export activities. The first lesson took place in a simulation room with games for students to visualize the Bullwhip effect and from there learn how to limit misinformation in the supply chain. In addition, students were explained the importance of proper documentation and customs compliance to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery. In particular, students also had hands-on experience on the software on the import-export process of a shipment from the first stage of offering to the last of payment. Another activity that had received a lot of attention from visitors was the Beer Game as well, it divided teams into groups to experience different roles in supply chain positions.

Through this trip, students have the opportunity to disseminate a lot of knowledge, from theory to practical observations related to activities at the port.
