PRACTICAL TRAINING IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

Semester 2, Academic year 2023-2024

On March 7th, 2024, within the framework of the study program in International Business, students of high-quality program, course 46, Faculty of International Business, School of Economics, Can Tho University had a visit and practical study at Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai port and Phu My Fertilizer Plant (Ba Ria - Vung Tau). This activity is to help students access a professional working environment and learn practical skills.

Visit to Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT)

Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT), a deep-water port located in the container port cluster of Cai Mep - Thi Vai, nearby the confluence of Cai Mep River (in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), is one of the largest and bustle seaports in Vietnam. Being 18 nautical miles away from Vung Tau pilot station, TCTT is an important trade point, quickly connected to inland navigation as well as sea routes between Asia and the world. During the visit, students learned about operational processes of container ports, from container loading and discharging, warehouse management, to customs procedures and other port services. Students also had the opportunity to interact and learn from experts with respect to maritime operational issues, risk management, and strategies.

The highlight of the visit was that students observed on site the container loading and discharging as well as the world’s ultra large vessel (160.000 DWT) unberthing and leaving. This is an extremely valuable practical experience for students to better visualize the scale and professional operation of modern seaports.

Visit to Phu My Fertilizer Plant

Phu My Fertilizer Plant plays an important role in the development of the chemical industry and is also one of the largest fertilizer factories in Vietnam. In this visit to the plant, students are guided by the plant experts to explore the stages of the nitrogen production process, from receiving raw materials, processing natural gas, synthesizing ammonia to producing urea. Modern machinery systems, closed production processes, along with the dedication of engineers and workers have created a deep impression on students about the chemical industry.
